All-Church Lenten Study: Walking in the Wilderness starting February 22nd

The wilderness is a familiar place for those who follow Jesus. We spend 40 days in the wilderness during Lent--days in which God calls us to self-examination, repentance, and making room for the Holy One in our lives. Our task during Lent is to clear away the clutter from our hearts so we can be fully present to God and our neighbors. In our all-church Lenten study, Walking in the Wilderness, author Beth Richardson offers us daily reflections from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday to help guide us through the spiritual wilderness of Lent. She also introduces us to a different spiritual practice each week of Lent: Being Present, Lament, Lectio Divina, Trust, Compassion, and Hospitality.

You can participate in this study in three ways:

1. Join one of our existing small groups during Lent (Wednesdays at 11:30 am or Thursdays at 9 am). Both meet at the church.

2. Join Pastor Amanda during Lent on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm for a soup supper and conversation about the book. (This option requires at least five people willing to commit. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Amanda.)

3. Read the book on your own or, better yet, form a small group with friends!

You can purchase the book from The Upper Room Store, Cokesbury, or Amazon. If you would like the church to order your book for you, please contact the office by February 9. Funds are available if you cannot afford a book.
